Levi Stubbs was born in Detroit 1936. He began his singing career with his friends Abdul "Duke" Fakir, Renaldo "Obie" Benson and Lawrence Payton naming their group The Four Aims in 1954. After a couple of years they signed with Chess Records and changed their name to The Four Tops because they didn't want to get confused with another popular group named Ames Brothers. The Four Tops signed with Motown Records in 1963. By the end of the decade The Four Tops had hits such as "Baby I Need Your Loving', "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch), "It's The Same Old Song.", "Reach Out I'll Be There", and many more.Mr. Stubbs also provided the voice of the plant Audrey II in the 1986 musical Little Shop of Horrors. As well as guest starring in a number of TV shows as himself. Levi Stubbs was diagnosed with cancer in 1995 and after a stroke he was unable to tour with the group. Levi Stubbs died in his sleep on October 17, 2008 at home. Your Music Will Live In Our Hearts and Minds Forever!
